Hot Melt Butyl Sealant is based on polyisobutylene and specially designed for use as primary seal in insulating glass units to prevent moisture vapor from transmitting into the airspace as well as retain gasses. 1-component, solvent-free, non-fogging, low water vapor transmission rate, Good adhesion to glass and metal spacers.
Sealant application
Hot Melt Butyl Sealant is specially designed for use as primary sealant in insulating glass units.
How to use
- Light a candle around the windows and exterior doors that you think have air leaks. If the flame dances around, there is air flow and you have a leak
- Clean area to be sealed
To ensure proper adhesion, remove any old caulk and paint. Make sure the area is free from dust, grease and loose/flaking paint.
- Prep the caulking gun
Cut the seal at the top of the sealant bottle,(if the gap is outside) using a knife or secateurs. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle with an opening that is approximately the size of the hole being filled. Fit the nozzle to the top of the cartridge and insert it into the caulking gun by pushing the base of the canister into the gun.
- Caulk the leak
Apply steady pressure to the caulking gun trigger to force the gap filler into the area that causes the leak. Move the nozzle along the joint in one smooth action. At the end of each section wipe excess product away with a finger, spoon or spatula dipped in a 50/50 mix of water and detergent.
- Finish
Clean up the excess sealant with a damp cloth immediately. Allow it to cure for about 30 minutes before painting.

Transport and storage
This product is flammable but not explosive, and can be delivered by normal means of transportation.
The products must be stored under 27 degree, in the cool and dry place.
Safety
It has no toxicity after entirely cured. Avoid eye contact it when operating. If happened, rinse opened eye under running water for several minutes. During the curing process, sealant will release a small amount of organic molecules. Construction should ensure good ventilation. If necessary, take protective measures. Please keep out of reach of children.
